Introducing

The Arc’teryx Andessa Thermal Jacket is a ski and snowboarding masterpiece that combines a fully waterproof and windproof/breathable GORE-TEX fabric with down and synthetic insulation. Premium 750-fill goose down is distributed around the core and sleeves to keep weight and bulk to a minimum, and synthetic insulation is used in the areas most likely to get wet, such as the underarms, cuffs and collar. For resort skiing, especially in the colder months, the Andessa is the best choice and should get you through many seasons. What I don’t like is that for most low budget skiers $950 puts it out of reach, in time it has excellent performance.

It’s a very warm jacket that keeps me dry in harsh conditions. For people who hate the cold, this is great. Although this jacket is designed for snowboarding, it is my go-to jacket for walks around town on rainy days. Comments from JeanP

Each included YKK zipper is water-resistant to keep you and your essentials dry, and the underarm and underneath piping with zippers opens for added breathability when the slopes start to warm up. Most people like its simple, clean design, and the softshell fabric is windproof, waterproof, eye-catching (it comes in four colors) and unfettered. What we don’t like is that its hood doesn’t match the helmet perfectly.

6.FW Catalyst Fusion Jacket – Women’s($649.95)

Loose fit

Ski pass pocket on the sleeve

100% seam sealing

Complete with multiple handy pockets and an insulated inner jacket with removable collar, this multi-piece jacket is the perfect combination of stylish versatility. What we like is the retro two-layer insulated jacket that adds some warmth to your vacation trip and won’t make you sweat even on warm days; what we don’t like is the lack of hem snaps to keep the side zipper closed.

7.Helly Hansen Powderqueen 3.0 Insulated Jacket – Women’s($450.00)

Exterior fabric is made of recycled material; insulation is made of 80% recycled material

PrimaLoft® aerogel pockets; ski pass pockets

Snap-on powder skirt

Introduction

Pro freeskiers love it, but you don’t have to be a pro to appreciate the smart, skiable features and comfortable two-way stretch of this women’s Helly Hansen Powderqueen 3.0 thermal Bomber jacket. This jacket is surprisingly warm for its weight, and the silky feel of its synthetic insulation makes it feel like an ultra-lightweight, luxurious down sleeping bag. We love that it wicks away moisture, which is rare in insulated jackets. Even when we started to sweat, the jacket held the heat significantly dryer. What we didn’t like was that its ventilation thermoregulation system wasn’t excellent.

8.Norrona Lofoten GORE-TEX Insulated Jacket – Women’s($439.20)

GORE-TEX 2L – GORE-TEX 2 layer material is suitable for a variety of activities and is protected from the elements by a free-hanging lining.

With an aggressively mapped PrimaLoft® distribution – heavier on the torso and shoulders, lighter on the arms, and none under the hood or powder skirt – this jacket keeps you warm where you need it, but maintains a slim, athletic-friendly profile. with one of the industry’s best windproof hoods and OekoTex and bluesign® certified fabrics, the GORE-TEX Insulation Jacket is your on-the-go fortress. What we like is great weather protection, even in stormy resort weather. What we don’t like is that wearing it on a warm spring day makes you sweat.

9.Columbia Mount Bindo Insulated Jacket – Women’s($220.00)

Features

Omni-Tech™ fabric with sealed critical seams provides waterproof/breathable protection

Omni-Heat™ Infinity premium heat reflective lining retains body heat and provides breathable warmth

Underarm vents with zippers allow excess heat to escape

Adjustable drawstring hood with removable, foldable synthetic fur

Introducing

Stay comfortable on the slopes, no matter how bad the weather gets. The women’s Columbia Mount Bindo insulated Bomber jacket is waterproof and lined with heat-reflective graphics for warmth. What we like is that the Columbia Mount Bindo II Insulated Jacket offers many great ski-specific features at an affordable price, and while it doesn’t offer the same weather protection and durability as our other winners, it’s less than half the price of the other winners and still offers plenty of style and plenty of performance on the mountain. What we don’t like is the inability to be waterproof for long periods of time.

The fit is loose, but with just the right amount of shoulder. I can wear it comfortably with down jackets and baselayers. I like the pockets, zipper slit and thumbhole cuffs. Reviews from Melrosest

10.FireFall/2 Insulated Jacket – Women’s($216.74)

Features

Two-layer jacket for inbound shredding sessions

Powder skirt keeps the snow where we want it

Adjustable hood is helmet compatible for optimal comfort

Zippered chest pocket to protect our cell phones and lip balm

Hook and loop cuffs keep the snow and wind out

Introduction

The FireFall/2 insulated jacket kept us comfortable and protected from the elements when the gondola got windy. On the slopes, we unzip the pits to let in fresh air that can quickly regulate our body temperature, while the sealed cuffs and waist keep snow out when we fall. We love the overall design, fit and coverage; a great choice for weekend getaways, ski vacations and anyone who wants a ski jacket at a good price. What we don’t like is the overly long arms that make you uncomfortable on the slopes.

In short, Bomber jackets are extremely similar to Ski clothing in function, the former is better in windproof performance and can effectively allow you to defend yourself from most injuries at high wind speeds; both types of jackets are able to be used with each other and will not affect your activities too much.
